The toy bank at Erewash Museum proved a huge success last year. It is open to contributions of new unwrapped gifts until Saturday 25 November.
Jo paid tribute to the generosity of local people. She said: “Last year’s toy bank brought Christmas joy to so many children.”
Families struggling to afford presents will be invited to pick toys on Saturday 2 December.
The award-winning museum near Ilkeston’s Market Place is open Thursdays to Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
It will be hosting a Craftsmas Fair on Friday 24 November to coincide with the switching on of Ilkeston’s festive lights.
Erewash’s Deputy Leader Becca Everett, who is Lead Member for Community Engagement, said:
“The toy bank is a fantastic opportunity to show the true spirit of Christmas – and I know our kind-hearted residents will want to bring a smile to the face of every child here this festive season.”
