Enjoy the beach .. at Erewash -by-the-Sea!

BEACH-lovers do not need to risk unbearable heat by jetting abroad for sand – because the seaside is coming here to Erewash.

The local treat – which mirrors Nottingham’s popular Market Square beach – has been lined up at Erewash Museum as part of its Summer Week which started today (Wednesday 26 July).

Visitors can enjoy an authentic beach complete with buckets and spades. There are free sand art activities, free seaside charm bracelets plus crafts and trails.

The popular Project Donut stall will be making an appearance – and Paul Temple will be performing Punch and Judy Shows on Thursday 27 July at 11am, 1pm and 2.30pm.

The award-winning museum is in Ilkeston just off the Market Place. It is open from 11am to 4pm from Wednesday to Saturday. Keep checking for different themes each week.

A spokesperson said: “Why spend lots of money travelling abroad to enjoy the sand when you can do it at home?

“The beach will be open during museum open hours for everyone to enjoy. Feel free to bring along your own chairs, blankets and picnics – and don’t forget to visit our tearooms.”
