Small Business Support – new grant open

Small businesses in Erewash that have not previously been eligible for COVID-19 support are being urged to apply right now for a new grant to help towards the impact of the recent lockdown.

Erewash Borough Council wants to hear as soon as possible from those micro and small businesses that qualify for the so-called ARG support – an Additional Restrictions Grant – which opened on 1 December.

Government funding has allowed all local authorities to draw up tailor-made criteria to help businesses in their community that do not pay business rates and were either forced to close during the latest national lockdown or which remained open but suffered a severe financial impact due to the restrictions.

The funding is available as a one-off grant payment for eligible businesses that were trading on 4 November and were affected by the national restrictions between 5 November and 2 December.

Councillor Wayne Major, Erewash Borough Council’s Deputy Leader and Lead Member for Resources, says:

“It is vital that we get the message out to the small and micro businesses in our community – you may qualify for a grant payment that could be a lifeline in these difficult times.

“We need to hear from you now so that we can, if you’re eligible, get this support out to you as quickly as possible. Please don’t delay, apply now.”

The ARG application form is available online at www.erewash.gov.uk Businesses should have a My Erewash business account to complete the application. An account can be set up via the website. The site will also give full details of the criteria for the Additional Restrictions Grant Scheme. Enquiries about the scheme can be emailed to localbusinessgrants@erewash.gov.uk
