Time to take Erewash forward

Residents are being asked for theirs views in a public consultation that has opened this week on Erewash Borough Council’s Core Strategy – a new blueprint that sets out positive ways forward for the borough over the next 15 years.

The draft strategy is a detailed document that features the proposed sites for new housing, including development on some green belt land. But it is also a ‘masterplan’ that sets out a wide range of polices to take the borough forward through key issues including employment opportunities, town centre regeneration, planning for our town and village centres plus transport and green infrastructure.

The eight-week consultation has opened this week (14 March), the third public consultation to be organised by Erewash Borough Council and will run until Monday 9 May.

The full document can be viewed online along with a form for comments at www.erewash.gov.uk/corestrategy

A full draft strategy and associated documents are also available to view at Ilkeston and Long Eaton Town Hall receptions and all Erewash libraries, including the mobile one.

Councillor Michael Powell, Erewash Borough Council’s Lead Member for Regeneration and Planning, says:

“All comments received during the consultation on this third version of the document will be forwarded to the Planning Inspectorate so that a government-appointed planning inspector can independently examine our proposed Core Strategy Review.”
