Craftmas fayre and Christmas lights

Residents going to the Ilkeston Christmas Light switch on event will be excited to learn that the museum will be hosting a crafty gift market just a stone’s throw away!

On Friday 25 November the museum will be open later than usual with the fayre running from 5.30pm until 8.30pm in addition to the light switch on event which runs at the same time. It is a perfect opportunity for residents and visitors to take the five minute walk from the Market Place to visit Erewash Museum, the borough’s hidden gem.

The museum’s Dalby House will be filled with over 20 stalls overflowing with goodies all from local independent businesses and talented self-employed crafters. Gifts include knitted goods, vegan eco-friendly candles, polymer clay earrings and sustainable clothing. Throughout the evening, local theatre group The Studio Players will also be singing Christmas carols to spread the festive cheer.

Leader of Erewash Borough Council, Councillor Carol Hart, said:

“Friday is set to be the perfect festive evening! Residents and visitors will be able to watch Ilkeston come alive with the Christmas light switch on, experience the attractions in the Market Place, and visit the museum to shop for locally made gifts. It is certainly going to be a wonderful and merry evening for all!”

Erewash Museum is located a short walk from Ilkeston Market Place. Admission is free for both the house and gardens. For more information visit the Facebook page facebook.com/erewashmuseum, call 0115 907 1141, or email museum@erewash.gov.uk.
