The Erewash Economic Development Strategy sets out the steps that the council needs to take to ensure that the borough’s thriving and vibrant economy is able to grow and take full advantage of future opportunities.
It outlines three strategic priorities: Town centres, Rural Recreation, Supporting Development and Business Growth. It includes proposals to bring empty shops back into commercial use, extending the network of multi-user trails, and enabling start-up and existing businesses to grow and flourish through advice and support.
Residents and businesses can and submit their responses through the online consultation, until 6 April 2022. Paper copies can also be requested by emailing colin.handley@erewash.gov.uk
Councillor Michael Powell, Lead Member for Regeneration and Planning, says:
“As the borough recovers following the pandemic, there are significant opportunities for economic growth ahead. This strategy will help support the business community to enable a thriving economy that can provide the jobs, services and career opportunities that our residents need. The Stanton Regeneration site is likely to offer substantial industrial and warehousing space, and in the longer term, new homes, neighbourhood centre and green infrastructure.”

“Our vision is to develop a thriving vibrant economy for the borough, where our residents, businesses and town centres are well placed to benefit from future opportunities.
