Events Extavaganza

An exciting programme of new events is set to take place at Erewash Museum over the next two years.

A total of £100,000 will be invested in cultural events and activities at the museum over the next two years as part of the Shared Prosperity Funding – Investing in Our Communities projects. This follows Erewash Borough Council’s successful bid for £2.8 million of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund.

The roll out of the events project will see this summer’s programme at the museum expanded, with plans for entertainment at the popular beach in the museum gardens. There are also plans in place for a new Halloween Spooktacular, and a programme of events to coincide with the Christmas lights switch on. It is also anticipated that the annual Light Night event, part of the Erewash Festival of Light, will be bigger and better than ever with more activities in the town centre and at the museum.

Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council, says:

“It is fantastic to be able to add even more events to the Erewash Museum calendar. The museum is popular with families and residents in Ilkeston, as well as visitors from outside of the area. We hope this encourages even more people to visit in the future and take part in the planned events.”

The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.

Erewash Museum is located in Ilkeston town centre, a short walk from the Market Place. Find out about upcoming events at facebook.com/erewashmusuem.
