A new walking group will allow Erewash residents the opportunity to get some exercise at a relaxed pace.
The gentle walks are targeted at individuals who are apprehensive about joining a walking group, or are recovering from an injury or illness and need to slowly increase their physical activity.
Each walk is one to two miles long with rest stops and opportunities to shorten the walk. The group is open to everyone, but all under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. People attending are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
All walks start at 10:30am and take place on a Thursday. The dates, locations and meeting points are as follows:
Meet at Kirk Hallam Playing Fields free car park off Windsor Crescent
Meet in the free car park
Meet at the bottom of Town End Road (the railway bridge end, not the clock tower end)
Meet in the free car park
Councillor Paul Maginnis, Lead member for Health and Wellbeing at Erewash Borough Council, says:
“Exercise is important for both our mental and physical health, but it is not always straightforward to get started. The new walking group is a fantastic opportunity for those in our community who are looking for a relaxed and supportive way to get into fitness. It is set to be a wonderful and valuable experience for everyone, especially those who have suffered illness or injury and need gentle exercise to aid recovery.”
