The sun was out for visitors to the Ilkeston Heritage and Classic Vehicle Show on Sunday 11th August as it celebrated its tenth year in the Market Place.
Almost 300 exhibitors showed off their treasured vehicles including Hissing Sid – a 27-litre Hispano Suiza V12, known as ‘Sid’ for its characterful hissing after a fast run. This car is a faithful recreation of the 1920s land speed record cars, based on a Hispano Suiza 27-litre Mb12 aero engine.
More than 20 classic lorries were entered into the show along with classic and sports cars, motorbikes, buses and steam engines.
Characters from Star Wars, from 501st Legion UK Garrison, stormed the area much to the delight of younger visitors.
Visitors also enjoyed an art & craft fair, and a look around St Mary’s Church.
The show, sponsored by local businesses and supported by Erewash Borough and Derbyshire County Council, was organised by the Erewash Partnership Events, Director Ian Viles said: “We are delighted to have again organised a great show which has become a firm favourite in Ilkeston and for people from miles around.”
