Ilkeston will once again be transformed into a winter wonderland with the annual Christmas light switch on event.
The event takes place on Friday 25 November from 5.30pm in the Market Place and begins with a festive musical performance from Ilkeston Brass Band. At 6:15pm, Trevvy Sings will take to the stage for a musical performance that includes a special dance routine from Fesa Says Dance School.
At around 6.50pm the Mayor of Erewash, Councillor John Sewell, will take to the stage and make a festive speech. The countdown will then begin with the lights transforming the town at 7pm.
As well as the entertainment, families will be able to enjoy rides at Woods Fun Fair, food stalls, and a craft and charity market, where people will have the opportunity to shop for gifts from local businesses.
Leader of Erewash Borough Council, Councillor Carol Hart, said:
“Ilkeston will experience the Christmas spirit this year with beautiful lights and more entertainment than ever before at the council’s lights switch on. It is set to be a brilliant event for people of all ages to enjoy, especially children who will get to see Santa a whole month before Christmas Day.”
