Residents’ parking schemes adjacent to Ilkeston town centre will be suspended and some roads closed next week when the 770th Ilkeston Charter Fair rolls into town.
The parking schemes will be suspended from Monday October 17, resuming on Monday 24 October. The following road closures will be in place from 5am on Tuesday 18 October until midday on Sunday 23 October:
Bath Street – from its junction with Wilmot Street to the Market Place
East Street – from house number 38 to its junction with Bath Street/the Market Place
Market Place – in its entirety
St Mary Street – from the northern boundary of the Arena Hope charity shop (and The Harrow public house opposite) to its junction with the Market Place
Pimlico – from its junction with New Lawn Road to its junction with Burns Street
Burns Street – from its junction with Pimlico to the end of the Scala cinema building (and property number 20 opposite)
Wharncliffe Road – from its junction with Albert Street to the Market Place
South Street – from the Market Place to its junction with Gladstone Street West
Queen Street – in its entirety
Market Street – from its junction with the Market Place to the boundary between 2 Market Street and Rutland Mill
Car parks on South Street, Pimlico, Queen Street and Gregory Street will be closed for the duration of the fair.
A two-way system will be in place from Gladstone Street up to the Market Place and back. A one-way system will be in place along Wharncliffe Road, Albert Street and Queen’s Drive to the junction with Oakwell Drive. Diversions will be in place and signposted.

St Mary Street Area: Burns Street, Fullwood Street, Fullwood Avenue, Gregory Street, Jackson Avenue, New Lawn Road, St Mary Street, Wilmot Street.
Queens Drive Area: Albert Street, Cedar Park, Darwin Avenue, Queens Drive, Lissett Avenue, Moss Road.
