Maggie Throup, Member of Parliament for Erewash, was delighted to attend the launch of the Bennerley Viaduct pop-up exhibition at the Erewash Museum.
The exhibition, which runs from 11-25 March, enables visitors to find out more about the viaduct’s history and that of the communities that are part of the Iron Giant’s story.
Maggie commented:
“It was fantastic to be at the opening of the Iron Giant pop-up exhibition at the fabulous Erewash Museum. This historic piece of infrastructure is an important feature at the heart of our community.
“I would like to thank the Friends of Bennerley Viaduct for putting on this exhibition and for sharing the viaduct’s important significance to the community. The Erewash Museum and Bennerley Viaduct are both worth visiting!
“I know that the pop-up event will be popular for all age groups, and if you haven’t already done so, I would encourage residents to visit the exhibition before it finishes at the end of the month.”
A range of events will be held on the weekends of the 18th and 25th March. On Saturday March 18, between 11am and 3pm, there will be a free bridge building challenge alongside bridge-building games for families.
A memory sharing morning will be held on Saturday March 25, between 10am and 1pm. People will be able to share stories about Bennerley Viaduct, take their photos or artefacts along, see the exhibition and chat with volunteer historians.
