Treetops Hospice – Appeal for Storage Unit

treetops

Treetops Hospice in Risley, is appealing for a storage unit to make the most of a bike recycling scheme that has raised more than £30,000 for their end of life nursing care and emotional support for adults with life-limiting conditions, and those who’ve been bereaved.

Over the last year as local people have turned to the outdoors for exercise and mental relaxation, many have taken up biking. Approximately £1,000 a month is being raised for the charity, as people have upgraded or sought an affordable bike, through the Treetops scheme.   There has also been an exceptional upturn in the number of unused bikes donated.

‘Sadly, we may be unable to accept bike donations because we do not have anywhere suitable to store them’, Stacey Smalley, Business Relationship Manager said “ this would be terrible as it means are turning away money that could pay for our hospice care”.

Treetops needs storage for the constant supply of donated bikes which a team of volunteers make road-worthy and find new owners for.  Ground floor storage for up to 40 bikes with loading/unloading is required in the city or Erewash area, ideally free of charge or peppercorn fee.

‘We are hoping that a local business will be able to step in so we can make the most of this fantastic fundraising opportunity. Helping us to provide hospice care in this way is a wonderful way to deliver corporate social responsibility objectives.’ Stacey continued.

Businesses who wish to encourage staff to cycle to work or recreationally, can also contact Treetops to arrange a bike sale on site.
