Keen runners, swimmers and cyclists are being encouraged to enter two major sporting events in Erewash.
The Erewash Half Marathon and Erewash Triathlon, which usually take place in August, have been rescheduled to October 1 and 2.
The Half Marathon will take place on Saturday 1 October. Runners will have an 8am start at Langley Mill and follow the Erewash Canal using the towpath and park trails to finish at West Park in Long Eaton. The route will be marked, marshalled and have drink stations at regular intervals. All participants who finish will receive a medal and a race day memento.
The Triathlon takes place the following day on Sunday 2 October. The event starts at 7am with a 400m swim in the West Park Leisure Centre pool, followed by a 16km bike ride and finishing with a 5km run in West Park. There are also options to do the Aquabike – which includes the swim and cycle legs – or the Aquathlon – which includes the swim and run legs. All participants will receive an event medal and goody bag for their hard work, with the top 3 male and female athletes in their age group and overall, receiving prizes.
Entry open for both events and will close on Wednesday 28 September.

Both events are organised by Stu Web in partnership with Erewash Borough Council.
Councillor Paul Maginnis, Lead Member for Health and Wellbeing at Erewash Borough Council, says:
βIt is fantastic news that the Erewash Half Marathon and Triathlon has been rescheduled. They are always popular events and the new dates give more people chance to enter and get some training in. I wish all participants the best of luck in their chosen event!β
