Seaside week!

Erewash Museum kicks off its summer season with some seaside fun as visitors are invited to come and play in the sand of Erewash beach.

Over the summer, the museum is celebrating with a new fun theme each week, starting with a seaside special. From Monday 25 July to Friday 30 July, residents are encouraged to build sandcastles and draw in the sand of the beach located in the museum’s garden. The event will also feature a free trail and craft sessions available throughout the week.

On Wednesday and Thursday there will be Sand Art sessions where children can create their own sea life themed artwork by building up layers of colourful sand. This activity is perfect for younger members of the family and only £2.50 per child. Please book in advance by contacting museum@erewash.gov.uk.

Councillor Carol Hart, Leader of Erewash Borough Council, says:

“I think we all deserve a wonderful summer after the past couple of years, and the museum’s seaside week is the perfect way to kick off the season! The beach is such a wonderful treat for all, especially those of us who love feeling the sand between our toes, and the activities will provide lots of entertainment for younger Erewash residents. I look forward to the borough having its own little bit of English coast!”

Erewash Museum is just a short walk from Ilkeston Market Place. Admission is free. For more information, call 0115 907 1141, email museum@erewash.gov.uk  or visit the Facebook page facebook.com/erewashmuseum.
